The story · Joshua 4
After the river, twelve stones.
In Joshua 4, after God parted the Jordan and Israel crossed on dry ground, each tribe carried a stone from the riverbed and stacked them on the far bank — a memorial to what God did when his people did what they could.
That's the whole idea. You pick up your stones, one at a time, and stack them on the foundation of God. You do what's in your control; he clears the way. The stones are never finished — you carry them daily, for life. Keeping all twelve alive is what a well-built life looks like.
